I've been marketing online for at least 20 years and one thing I've learned is that anything you put online, whether it's your email address or phone number or any kind of information, it's going to get scraped and swiped and put into all kinds of spam machines.
Soon your email inbox is overflowing with spam and your cell phone is getting hammered with spam texts from text blasters! I'll cover how to protect your email in another post, but here I want to discuss how to protect your real phone number and even send texts without ever exposing yourself to these spammers and scrapers!
Almost everyone uses Gmail these days, but most aren't aware there's another free service Google provides called Google Voice. Every single Google account comes with this service. If you are logged into your Google account, just type this in your address bar:
That will take you into your very own Google Voice mail and texting service. You can pick a number local to you and then use that number to forward to any other number! THIS is the number you use online, not your REAL number. You can also send texts directly from this Google Voice account online.
I recorded a video for you to show you some of the features and benefits of using Google Voice instead of your real phone number.
Using Google Voice can save you a lot of grief over time. It will keep your real phone number hidden while you work online. It's not being dishonest or ‘shady' not using your own number, it's just part of working online and protecting yourself from all the scammers, spammers and those who are out to get all of your personal information!
So get your Google Voice number setup and start using that in all your advertising, posting in Social Media and in your emails. You'll be glad you did! If you found value in this video, please share it with others using the sharing icons you see on the left side of the page or at the bottom of this post. I appreciate it!
