Do you know what people see when they come to your blog? What if someone types in the wrong website address or decides to “shortcut” your link and look at your root domain name?
I know a lot of us probably don't think about those things. We create a blog and website, send out our links and pretty much just go about our business. But people are sneaky, and they'll look at your link and “cut off” the end so they can see your main domain. Or else someone will type in the wrong link in their browser and end up on some ugly page with a message like “404 Page Not Found”.
Worse yet, if you're using your WordPress install for a lead capture page builder like Instabuilder 2.0, they can end up seeing every page you've created with all the links. I actually found this out by accident and was shocked when I did. I knew right away I had to fix this on my own blogs.
There's actually some very simple WordPress tricks you can use to keep people from poking around where they're not wanted. They are all easy to do and I'll provide the files down below so you can edit your own WordPress blog. First though, I recorded a video to show you how it all works to help steer people where you want them to go:
Oh yeah, before I forget, the file with the simple redirect code is below.
Just click on the link and copy and paste the code: Download the simple redirect file here
Let me know how else I can help with your own WordPress tricks!
